The inaugural exhibition of the Tainan National Museum of Fine Arts Preparatory Office, THE SKETCHERS AT DAWN, is curated and coordinated by Brightext. Taking sketching as its central theme, the exhibition unfolds through four dimensions—sites, light and shadow, color, and perspective. By combining contemporary technology with sound and moving-image art, it reimagines the experience of viewing modern and contemporary Taiwanese art, inviting visitors to encounter landscapes from an entirely new perspective.
The key visual reconsiders the essence of sketching, drawing inspiration from one of Taiwan’s iconic landscapes: the Sacred Ridge of the Xueshan Range. Through a contemporary reinterpretation of the acts of observing and recreating landscapes, the subjects of sketching are reassembled into dynamic, ever-changing visual imagery. The scenery missing from the picture frame symbolizes the artist’s intervention, while also extending an invitation to visitors to wander alongside the artists through the wilderness and the city.
